I hope all the wonderful mothers out there had an awesome
Mother’s Day! This year I teamed up again with IN Magazine to give one mom a
dream makeover! The magazine is out on stands now, but here’s a recap plus
behind the scene pictures!
Mothers are some of the most cherished people on the
planet. They’re also some of the hardest working and have very little time for
themselves. This is why I’m excited to give a hardworking mother a day of
pampering and appreciation while transitioning her into a super model mom!
Meet Vanessa Perez, 37, mother of three handsome young
men (ages 17, 15, 10) and a beautiful baby girl (10 months). Vanessa’s mornings
can start a little chaotic with everyone running into one other getting ready
for school and work.
Her mornings sometimes begin with signing a school
permission slip or document and brushing her teeth at the same time. There are
days she’s lucky to walk out of the house with matching clothes and shoes.
Vanessa says a few times she has actually came out the house with two different
shoes on.
HAIR AND MAKEUP
Let the makeover begin! The glam session started in
Tyler, Texas with hair by hairstylist Milka Hernandez, owner of New Image
salon. Vanessa had already made the decision to change her bronze locks into
golden strands. After a few hours of the color process for blonde highlights
and ombre’, Milka managed to get to Vanessa washed and dried and then added
beautiful curls as the finishing touches.
Makeup artist Keriana Gainer graced our lovely mommy model
with a natural makeup look that would be easy for Vanessa to accomplish on her
own. For eye shadow, Keriana did a light smoky eye. To enhance the look,
Keriana added false lashes and a pop of color with the matte lip gloss Electric
Raine by Coloured Raine Cosmetics (www.colouredraine.com).
Although Vanessa might not have all the time in the world
to do her hair and makeup in the morning, busy moms like her have the option to
do a cute high bun or a side braid. Let’s not forget head bands! This one accessory
can make a significant difference to a head full of messy hair.
As for makeup, there are three items that will always get
you through the day: concealer for any dark circles under the eyes or for
blemishes, mascara to brighten your eyes and make you look awake and lip gloss.
WARDROBE
For the wardrobe, styling is all about items that
transition from day events to evening outings. This was the perfect opportunity
for me to play dress up with spring and summer trends like the button-up dress,
off-the-shoulder tops, flowing A-line skirts, wide leg pants, and, of course,
denim.
For Vanessa, I wanted to do a simple but chic look that
she can maintain. The trending button-down dress is an easy garment that any
woman can dress up or down. It’s perfect for a day out with the kiddos and then
transitioning to an outside dinner with the hubby.
I love a dress like this because it’s like a blank canvas
and it easy to mix and match. Let’s not forget about the many different
accessories that can be added! With a huge selection of scarves, statement
necklaces, hats, oversized handbags, and sunglasses, there are plenty of ways
to add to an outfit.
The hat for this outfit definitely adds attitude. I love
that the large rim fedora is a bold blue color that brings out the blue stripes
in the dress. You can match any type of shoe with this dress. You can select a
heel to dress it up or rock it with some All-Star Converse to dress it down.
For this makeover, I chose a wedge sandal. Wedge sandals are great if you’re
not really into really high heels but want to add just a couple of inches.

What better location to take outdoor photos than the
heart of Tyler at Bergfeld Park. With sunny weather and green grass, the
scenery made the completion of the makeover absolutely perfect!
This makeover was all about being effortless stylish and
I hope that Vanessa takes away some fun and great tips on how to dress on busy
mornings. Vanessa is already a gorgeous lady, so the transition was not hard at
all.
“I loved every part of the makeover leading up to the
final look! If it was up to me, I would do it again,” says Vanessa.
Any mom who can juggle four children and a spouse, work
all day and then spend evenings attending basketball and soccer games is a
winner in my book!
