Introducing B.Simone

Have you ever came
across an individual who just has that star quality? Like they’re supposed to
be famous?! Lol. Well I have, and B.Simone is definitely a rising star! Singing,
dancing and the girl could even make a career being a comedian if she wanted. This
triple threat from Dallas, Tx is making major moves with her new EP Lost
Soul. I had a chance to sit down with
B.Simone and talk about her journey so far in the music business and what are
we to expect from her in the future. Check it out!
What was your concept for the album Lost Soul?
It really came after being in a girl group. I was in two
girl groups before going solo. I was just all over the place. Not to say that I
was a bad person, but I was just lost. Doing a bunch of stuff like partying, focusing
on guys, not focusing on myself as an artist... A lot of people go through that
stage in that life where they don’t know who they are; they don’t know what the
future holds for them. I was at that point in my life where I don’t know what I
want to do. The girl group thing kind of threw me off when we broke up. It
wasn’t a good time in my life. I came back solo, did that for a year…everything
worked out.
Of
course this is a style blog. What is your style? When we see you, are how we
going to know “That’s B.Simone!”?
As women in the industry you always want to have sex
appeal but I’m such a tomboy. I like baggy clothes and stuff like that. My
stylist is trying to work with me incorporating my style into being more sexy.
So I might wear some Adidas jogging pants with some heels just to spice it up.
Speaking
of Tomboy and baggy clothes, a lot of people say that you look like Aaliyah.
What is your take on that?
Ummm, I’ve been getting that since I was in high school. So,
I just say thank you. She was beautiful, she was America’s angel and no one has
anything bad to say about her. She was an amazing person as from what I can
see. I’m not going to stop anybody from saying that, because they are promoting
me for free. So if you want to say that I look like Aaliyah and post my pics
all day, go head! But I’m never going to be like “Oh, I look like Aaliyah”.
The fans requested that. I have a fan page on instagram
…. They were writing me saying the passing date is coming up, you should do
something! It was so last minute! I had to find dancers, I didn’t know any of
the dances, and we learned the dances in a day or two. We shot the video in
12hrs, back to back, he edited in four days, and it should have been 3 weeks of
editing. Everything was rushed but it had to be done by the date of her passing
or it would have defeated the purpose. It worked out, it could have been better
but for what it was it was cool.
What
advice would you give to someone who wants to go into the music
business?
The main thing
is just to keep your business and personal separate. A lot of girls get in this
industry messing with a lot of guys to get things, and it doesn’t have to be
like that. If you work your ass off you can get it without being “that” girl.
You have to find yourself before you can be yourself. Once you figure out who
you are you can just run with it.
Is
there anyone that you want to work with in the future?
My main person I want to work with is Drake. He’s just a
musical genius to me! His music evokes so much emotion, and that’s what music
should do. When he raps you are literally thinking of a time previously in your
life that happened, and painting that picture. His music is amazing! I just
want him to write for me and get him on a record.
Where
do you see yourself in the next two years?
Hopefully,
have some type of backing behind me, whether it’s an investor, or management. I’m
doing everything on my own; I don’t know how to do that stuff. I just know how
to be the artist. Just tell me where to go and what time. If I’m not signed to a
major label, I would just like some type of team.
Now
that lost soul has dropped, what’s next?
Just promoting and shooting a lot of visuals. This
project is for people to see my potential and want to work with me. I need a
manager, I need to find people who want to back up B.Simone and my brand. People
are like” this is your first and you’re charging for it”? Sure am! If you don’t
want to buy it, don’t buy it! You can go to YouTube and watch the videos for
free! I’m not an established artist. I’m not expecting to sell THOUSANDS of
records! That’s not the point. The point is to take my artistry serious. I’ve
been working on this project for over a year, thousands of dollars, blowing
through my savings. This is my career, this is my job.
By talking to B.Simone you can definitely tell that she
is very passionate about her music and her journey. With her drive and
dedication I’m sure we will see her excel in the music business! Good luck
