GOLD MINE = D.Woods
6:32 PMPreviously,
I had the awesome opportunity to interview D.Woods, former member of the
platinum selling girl group Danity Kane. Knowing that the other members are
back the together again, you can expect Ms. Woods making some big moves on her
own! This singer, dancer, actress is on the rise! She is the boss of her own independent
label, has a new single that is booming, and productions in theater in the
works. What can D.Woods not do?!
Congrats
on the new single Gold mine. I love the new video! It gives me a real 90’s
vibe, tells us more about the song and video.
Thank you! I’m glad that came across! When I heard the
track from the producer Travis Cherry, the track music sounded very Jodeci. When
I wrote the song I wanted the background vocals to have that same feel, that
nostalgic feel. I just remember growing
up watching videos, wanting to be in videos. I also remember my mom being like
“No you are not wearing that, you are too young!!” Now I can and it’s coming back in style, yaaasss!
I want people to be like when was this shot, 1990 or 1993!? No it’s 2013!
(Laughs)
So
this is a fashion blog, what are some of your favorite brands and trends that
are out right now?
I pretty much wear whatever I like. I have this sexy
tomboy look. That’s my thing. I’ll mix a whole lot of stuff, I’m very abstract.
I’ll wear some Timbs, with like a dress.
Tell
us what we can expect from D.Woods that we weren’t able to see from you in
Danity Kane?
Everything! (Laughs) Everything, basically you are going
to meet D.Woods for the first time. I'm
glad that I was able to show some of what I’m able to do, but I wasn’t able
show what I was chosen to do.
I
usually like to end interviews with people just giving encouragement and what
keeps them motivated. I know that this an up and down industry, how do
you maintain so motivated?
It is a rollercoaster… I’ve been doing this since I was 3
years old, so I’ve been doing this before I could think of the possibilities of
making money. I just love to do this; I just keep putting myself in positions
where I can continue to love it. I have to be more conscious of who I’m around
and have my counsel to let me know what to expect and how to get the most out
of it so I can continue to love what I do. I always know what I want; it is
just a matter of finding it. I’m still learning, and I want to continue to
learn. You always want to be exposed to something new and be brought to a higher
level, just showing the possibilities that you never expected.
